Pregnant with Possibility: Waiting, Hoping, and Acting in the New Year with Rabbi Avi Strausberg

Thursday, September 18, 2025 25 Elul 5785

8:00 PM - 9:00 PMSalzberg Family Library

Rosh Hashanah is described in our liturgy as Hayom Harat Olam—“Today the world is conceived.” This evocative image frames the new year not as a moment of completion, but of beginning, gestation, and waiting. In this session, we’ll explore the spiritual posture of hope and expectation through the metaphor of pregnancy, asking: What does it mean to wait with faith? When is waiting an act of trust—and when does hope call us to act? Together we’ll study sources from liturgy and from hasidut to reflect on how we might enter the new year attuned to the rhythms of waiting, the urgency of hope, and the courage to act.
