7:00 PM - 9:00 PMSalzberg Family LibraryCome and enjoy the classic Yiddish film “Yidl Mitn Fidl,” starring the consummate comedienne of Yiddish Theater, Molly Picon.
This is the classic folk comedy about a man and his daughter who, penniless decide to become traveling musicians. The daughter disguises herself as a boy to relieve her father’s anxiety when they join together with another father-son duo.
The film was shot on location in 1936, in the picturesque town of Kazimierz near Warsaw, Poland a few years before Hitler marched into Poland. Real scenes of the shtetl with the inhabitants show the vitality and spirit of traditional small town Jewish life.
The film is in Yiddish with English subtitles. Free admission and free snacks!!
