6th Grade Mitzvah Scholars Program 5785 (2024-2025)

Mitzvah Scholars is a collaborative learning program for parents and their rising b’nei mitzvah.                                                                                  Parents should plan to attend each session unless otherwise indicated.

Honoring your Parents: What are the Jewish parental obligations to our kids? What are children's obligations to our parents? How can we work to achieve our goals?

 

Shabbat, December 7

12:30-6:00 PM

Mini-Retreat & Havdalah

5th & 6th graders should join us for an all-day program, starting with lunch and concluding with Minchah and Havdalah. Parents are invited to join their children for Minchah (Bar Mitzvah of Josh Burgess Eisenberg) starting at 3:45 PM and stay through the end of the program at 6:00 PM.

While there is no fee to participate, we kindly request that you register in advance to help us plan the logistics effectively.

Join Cantor Labovitz and representatives of the OKC Chevra Kaddisha as we go for a tour of our local funeral home, and demystify Jewish practices around death & burial.

5:45-8:00 PM, and Overnight through Saturday at 3:00 PM

Kabbalat Shabbat, Friday Night Dinner, & Discussion, followed by 6th Grade Overnight & Mini-Retreat

6th Grade Mitzvah Scholars Families, then Students Only

Families of Mitzvah Scholars should join us for Kabbalat Shabbat & Ma’ariv services followed by dinner. 6th graders are invited to stay overnight to continue to program, and parents are re-invited to join us starting at 1:30 PM for the last 90 minutes.
