About ABRS

Welcome to the Alvin Browdy Religious School at Ohr Kodesh Congregation! At ABRS, we strive to build a strong foundation of Jewish knowledge for each student, as well as a pride and joy of Jewish learning. We are committed to shepherding each child on a journey toward committed and informed Jewish adulthood, in the context of the larger society in which they live.

As the new Director of ABRS at Ohr Kodesh, I am spending the 2025-2026 year assessing what has been working well, and what are some areas of growth for our school. In the first half of the year, this has included an updated check in/ check out system to ensure the safety of each child, a more organized schedule system to make sure all teachers and staff are well informed, introducing bi-monthly tefillah for Kindergarten-Second Grade, and updating our Hebrew language curriculum. 

As in previous years, we are also continuing to build knowledge and confidence in tefillah,  Torah stories and text learning, as well as a rich understanding of holiday celebrations across all grade levels. 

As I continue to learn about ABRS and get to know families in this knowledgeable and active community, I welcome your feedback about what kinds of changes you would like to see at ABRS. I look forward to growing and learning together for the remainder of this year and in the future. I also welcome conversations with people interested in learning more about our program and considering this option for your child’s Jewish learning.
