Music & Arts at OKC
A Song, New Every Day
The arts have long been the heartbeat of the Jewish people. Whether we chant or sing congregational melodies in services, or attend concerts of music by Jewish composers, or watch film that feature Jewish themes and Jewish actors and characters, we are able at any given moment to access our history, as Noami Shemer wrote, as “a song which is old as wine, new every day.”
Music & Arts at OKC presents a variety of programs - presenting a little something for everyone in well-established annual programs and new events.
Among these programs: a variety of musical offerings including “Blue Suede Jews: Jewish Composers of the Brill Building” featuring members of the Cantors Assembly Seaboard Region; the Lewis/Rushefsky Yiddish film series; a new play reading and study group; a Jewish storytelling workshop; Israeli dancing; the dulcet harmonies of the OK Chorale choir; a Jewish musical journey through Italy with Cantors Hinda Labovitz and Edwin Gerber and the Cantors Assembly; and lots more!
To become involved and to share your ideas, please contact Cantor Hinda Labovitz.
