A Time of Reflection & Reconnection

High Holidays are a time of reflection, recommitment and reconnection. Each person finding their own way to engage with the themes and rituals of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur

Join us and Connect with the OKC Community!

Operation Isaiah: Collecting for Those in Need / October 2022 Collection
The plight of the homeless and hungry is always before us! The OKC community calls upon all who are able to donate items of non-perishable food and travel-sized hygiene products to Ohr Kodesh to help those in need.

All items must be new, unopened and non-perishable. Donations benefit the Capital Kosher Food Pantry and N Street Village.

Collection boxes/bins outside will be outside OKC's front entrance and contributions will be brought inside on a daily basis. We accept boxed and canned food items and travel-sized hygiene products. Please DO NOT bring glass containers. Drop off items to OKC, anytime during the month October.

Rosh Hashanah Project Baskets                                                                                                                                                        The Rosh Hashanah Project, an annual program of the Jewish Social Service Agency (JSSA) and Ohr Kodesh, helps brighten the New Year for those in our community who are in need. Ohr Kodesh volunteers assemble and deliver 200+ festive baskets of food, wine, and ritual items throughout the area community.

We need help preparing the materials on Wednesday PM, September 21 & Saturday PM, September 24, and delivering them on Sunday morning, September 25.  Delivery will be to 2 or 3 clients in the area.

Please join us! Complete the Volunteer Registration Form. Any questions, please contact Aron Krasnopoler.

Arriving Migrants: Collecting Basic Items                                                                                                                                                  Migrants are being bused into DC and dropped on the streets at a rapid rate; they are arriving with nothing. We are helping the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Washington (JCRC) respond to an urgent plea for assistance.

Please bring toiletries (e.g., soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, menstrual pads), reusable water bottles, reusable grocery bags, washcloths and towels, pens and notebooks, and similar necessities to the OK lobby and deposit them in the designated boxes. Any questions? Please contact Simma Kupchan
