Operation Isaiah: High Holidays Collection for those in Need

The plight of the homeless and hungry is always before us – and the High Holidays provide an opportune time for us to try to address that.

We call upon all who are able to bring a minimum – though more is welcome – of two items of non-perishable food to drop off at Ohr Kodesh anytime during the month of September. Collection boxes/bins will be located outside the OKC front entrance and contributions will be retrieved on a daily basis.

We will accept both boxed and canned food items, along with travel-sized hygiene products. All items must be unopened and non-perishable. Kosher food donations will benefit the Capital Kosher Food Pantry and any non-kosher food will be directed to the Capital Area Food Bank.

Share a Sweeter New Year: Volunteer to help the Rosh Hashanah Project September 1st & 5th

The Rosh Hashanah Project, an annual program of the Jewish Social Service Agency (JSSA) and Ohr Kodesh, helps brighten the New Year for those in our community who are in need.

Ohr Kodesh volunteers assemble 200+ baskets of food, wine, and ritual items and deliver them, with the help of several other synagogues, throughout the area.

Any questions, please contact Aron Krasnopoler. Click HERE to volunteer.

OKC Mitzvah/Teshuvah Family Challenge

Set the tone for 5782; perform one Mitzvah and/or an act of Teshuvah each day between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur

Track your activities and keep the list visible all year. It will serve as a reminder to perform these sacred deeds and think about your personal behavior year-round. Participants will be invited to a special ice cream social with Rabbi Helfand.
