Roots of Resilience: Using our History to Heal our Present

Sunday, November 9, 2025 18 Cheshvan 5786

5:30 PM - 6:30 PMCohen Chapel

From generation to generation, antisemitism is reborn, and today is no exception. This one-time, interactive workshop aims to provide participants with an overview of intergenerational trauma, to offer a biological explanation for the emotional toll the Jewish community is experiencing in the rebirth of antisemitism. The workshop will also integrate therapeutic techniques with Jewish wisdom to provide participants with practical ways to tap into the roots of their resilience and cope with today’s world.

Marissa Keilson, LCSW-C is the grandchild of Holocaust survivors, which inspired her career as a trauma therapist. Marissa received her degree in clinical social work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. She has spent thirteen years working with victims of domestic violence and sexual violence, as well as with clients recovering from war-based PTSD, traumatic grief, and healing the wounds of intergenerational trauma. As a Level 3 Gottman Couples Therapist, Marissa also helps couples navigate relationship challenges. In addition to working at a local practice, Marissa works as a therapist and trauma educator for a new organization, Help for Anxious Jews. Marissa is licensed in MD, VA, and NY and is a member of the Jewish Therapist Collective.
